Welcome to the home page of the Mobile Networks course. This page is regularly updated to reflect the schedule and work assignments of the course.
The purpose of the course is to give you a sound understanding of the architecture and operating principles of mobile and wireless networks. This course provides a general introduction to mobile networking, with an emphasis on the mechanisms and not on the standards; however, we will cover some of the standards of cellular networks and of wireless LANs (IEEE 802.11, in particular).
Contents
- Wireless LANs: engineering and performance aspects
- Cellular networks
- Mobile network layer
- Transport layer over wireless networks
- Sensor networks
- Wireless security and privacy
- Wireless ad hoc networks and vehicular networks (VANETs)
- Cognitive radios and (non)-cooperative behavior in wireless networks
Textbook
The textbooks used for the course are Mobile Communications by Jochen Schiller , and Wireless Communications and Networks by William Stallings . For details please see the Practical Information section.
